Postmen with Parangs???

shared by Noel Dass

Hi all, just heard from a friend that there is a new tactic of daylight robbery that targets senior citizens or people living alone who are at home during the day. Apparently his nei

ghborhood in Bangsar received a circular saying that robbers are dressed as postmen and go to houses and say that they are delivering a registered post and they have to come out to sign for it. When the person goes out, the "postman" produces a parang and then proceeds to rob them. If this is true, then the safest thing to do when you receive a visit from a postman who is delivering registered mail to you is to tell them that you will go and collect it at the post office yourself and not entertain them any further. This sucks for the legitimate postal deliveries but better to be safe than sorry.

Spate of robberies at restaurants in Klang Valley

 from theStar.com.my

COLLEGE student Wei Yin, 18, shivered in fear as two men in full-faced helmets and armed with parang rushed into a restaurant in Jalan Gasing, Petaling Jaya, where she was having teh tarik with friends.
Within seconds, she felt the cold hard steel of the sharp blade on her neck and the men shouted for her gold chain, her friend’s rings and smartphones.
Before the duo ran off, they snatched several smartphones and three tablets from other customers.
In recent times, there was a string of armed robberies targetting customers at restaurants in Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya, Klang, Shah Alam and Kuala Lumpur.
During a random check on 15 robberies, StarMetro found that in 10 cases, the assailants rushed into the restaurants while the other cases involved patrons seated at tables along the street.
The 35 victims interviewed by StarMetro were fearful of giving their names or even to be photographed.
“We want to share our story to create awareness on the robberies, but no photos please,” said the Gomez sisters.
“We were robbed of our gold bracelets, chain, rings and a tablet, worth a total of RM10,500.”
S. Gomez, 35, said she had not returned to the restaurant in Section 11 in Petaling Jaya since.
Another victim G.S. Maniam, who was enjoying a cup of coffee late one night in Restaurant Grand City in Section 11, said he had been traumatised after eight men armed with parang and wearing full-faced helmets robbed him of RM700 and his friend’s gold engagement rings.
“One of them shouted and threatened to cut off my friend’s finger when he had trouble removing two rings worth RM1,500,” he said.
Maniam added that as the men rushed out, they spotted a couple seated at the entrance and forced the woman to hand over her handbag.
Section 11 Grand City Restaurant manager K. Segar, 45, said the eatery had been robbed twice, first in mid-2011 and the recent incident happened two months ago.
“We have closed-circuit television camera (CCTV) recordings of the incident where three men armed with parang rushed in while one man waited outside and another accomplice was in the car.
“The trio snatched handphones and gold items from customers.
“Before escaping, one of the men took money from the cash register,” he said.
Segar said the restaurant was robbed of RM10,000 cash on both occasions.
In another case two weeks ago, customers at Sid’s Pub in Bukit Tunku, Kuala Lumpur were relieved of their mobile phones while the establishment lost RM6,000.
Its owner, Geoffrey Siddle said his manager alerted him of the 12.45am incident in which three robbers were armed with parang.
“It is the first time this has happened to our pub. I do not think we were targetted,” said Siddle, when met at his branch outlet in Taman Tun Dr Ismail.
Siddle said there were only eight customers remaining in the pub as it was closing time.
“The three men walked in and headed for the bar where his manager was ringing up the day’s earnings.
“As they walked in, they pretended to be looking for someone. One of them asked the manager some questions.
“The manager replied he had not heard of such a person and at this juncture, one of the men whipped out a parang and demanded the money from the till.
“His two accomplices told the customers to surrender their mobile phones,” he said.
He added that as the manager handed over the money to the ringleader, he managed to trip the alarm button that instantly alerted the police.
About 26 policemen and members of the Special Branch came in response to the alarm but the robbers had already run off with their loot.
Despite what happened at Sid’s Pub, keeping the doors closed during business hours is not an option for Siddle.
He said it would make customers worried and drive them away.
“This is a bar where people come to relax.
“We have an extensive surveillance system and a panic button that will notify the police immediately,” said Siddle.
He said he hoped the police would step up their presence in the Bukit Tunku area as well as their investigations to arrest the culprits.
On hearing about the spate of robberies, a restaurant owner in Section 17 in Petaling Jaya took matters into her own hands by installing a locked glass door to screen her customers.
To enter the restaurant, the customers have to knock on the door before being let in.
This is common for retail shops and boutiques but an unlikely choice for food establishments.
“I have running this restaurant for 16 months but I just recently decided to install the locked door.
“I became paranoid when I heard about all the other restaurants that got robbed recently,” said Lee.
Her customers were nonetheless surprised with the security feature.
“It has not deterred the regulars from coming to my restaurant. They actually feel secure now that no one can just barge in.
“I feel that I have lowered the risk of a robbery. I have also upgraded the CCTV cameras in the restaurant. It costs a lot of money but it is worth the investment,” added Lee.

Attempted Snatch Theft. 1110pm - USJ 3/3K

shared by Thomas Yap TJ

2 Motorbikes, 4 riders. 3 indians, 1 Malay. Youngs guys, probably after high school or college aged. Red helmets. 1 of them a sports jersey around the USJ 3/3 area in Subang Jaya.

As I parked my car outside the main road, I saw these guys driving casually on the main road. As I was locking my car door, I made eye contact with one

of the rider, that was when I felt uneasy. True enough they made a U-turn, as I was walking to my house along the road. I heard them turn into my junction and quickly jogged slowly to my neighbours house who had dogs. They drove past me till the end of the junction and u-turned back. I took out my phone to pretend to call somebody. They both stopped infront of road and FIRSTLY ASKED 'YOU PANGGIL SIAPA'. I giving them the benefit of doubt said friend. pointing that i was actually going into my neighbours house. They started asking for directions to sunway Mentari. I stood where
i was and tried my best to give directions. That was when on e passenger came off the bike and came from the right side. I am thankful that my neighbours harrier was parked infront of the house. Immediately after the other passenger
got off the bike and came from the left side. That was when I immediately flung my sling bag into my neighbours house. They were about 8 feet away and walking closer. Than there was this awkward moment where I was struggling to take my backpack and throw it into the neighbours house. They were about 5 feet away. At that moment, they decided to leave.

I am just thankful to God for protecting me, thankful for the neighbours dogs who were barking really loud the moment these guys stepped off the motorbikes. I am really thankful too that they were not professionals because i was serious just trapped.

Lesson learnt -
1. have a mental preparation of what you might do if something were to happen if you have a routine of going back home late.
2. people ask who your calling, just say police. have their number on speed dial. better to be safe than sorry.
3. Dogs are mens best friend.
4. I am a christian, and i am just thankful that my God protected me through all this. (I am also very thankful that immediately after this incident happened, my neighbour, a young college women just parked her car at the same spot where i did and started walking back home.

Hi, I would like to share my case in Taman Megah as well.
I arrived in Taman Megah at around 6pm+ on the 22nd of Oct. Parked my car at the road side parkng, in between the Futsal Court and the Da Ma Cai shop. The traffic light was just few parking lots away.

I went to have dinner in Ming Tien and when I walked back to my car at 8pm+, I saw my backseat being folded and my back windscreen was broken. My backpack in the car bonnet was gone.

I am driving a Persona, so the backseat can be folded to access the bonnet. I assume they climbed in through the broken window to release the level on both end of the seat and then take the bag in the bonnet. It was blocked by several big boxes too.

I looked around and noticed there was a cafe nearby on the 2nd floor and the person there was looking down at me. Perhaps he saw something or the culprit must have been spying from above. Police told me that the thieves notice more on those wearing office wear. So people, please beware.

Me and my friends were walking our dogs at around 5.15pm this evening. While we were walking a Black Proton Saga came from the opposite direction. The car was full of Indians. The car passed us and later made a U - turn. It then revved the car several times! Me and my friends felt that something was wrong. We quickly turned

around and walked into a back lane which leads to the guard house! 2 Indians ( looked very young) came out of the car an followed us. It was about 400m walk through the back lane. When we reached the end of the back lane, the Proton Saga was already blocking the exit. Lucky 2 of my neighbors drove pass and he saw us looking terrified. He and said loudly. ARE THESE YOUR FRIENDS? Immediately the proton Saga dashed of the the 2 Indians that followed us ran back to the other end of the back lane. My Neighbour immediately told the guards to follow the car but the car speed of

25 OCT 2012 (TUE) 12.15AM

Last night/this morning my wife got back from a work meeting at around 12.13AM. As she was locking the gate a Kancil drove out from the side lane next door and they shone a torch into our house. She immediately ran into the house, but the Kancil left.

Within seconds they came back and rang our doorbell. The man was looki
ng for 'Anthony.' My wife, still in the house, shouted out that there was no such person.

The other guy then came out (both Indians) and asked if she was sure.

The second guy then jumped over the gate and smashed the passenger side car window.

My wife's handbag with phone, camera, iPod Touch, wallet with credits & cash cards and ID were still in the car and got taken while my wife was screaming from inside of the house. By the time I came down, they were gone.

Our neighborhood guards came within 5 minutes and the police within 20 minutes thanks to our neighbor who heard the window break and saw the Kancil drive off.

Yesterday near Kuala Lumpur Nearly got car-jacked moments ago at Solaris Mont Kiara while on the way home. Nissan Vanette (silver/white) van with 3 bald dudes came out from a hidden corner and started their full throttle at an attempt to either hit my car from behind or swerve right to the fr

ont to halt me. Rear view mirror reflection portrayed one of the dudes in making attempt to jump out the van when he had the chance.

I picked up the unsettling the image and quickly try to get them off my tail and they continued to chase even as I turned in to climb the hill heading to my apartment. They backed off once I manage to pass the guard house just in time.

Thank God for His in time protection, quick reflexes and awareness.

ATTENTION: Folks living in Mont Kiara area, kindly be watchful and let your respective guard houses and management offices know about the incident so that we as a community are monitoring and just be more self aware during this time. Thank you.

Robbery Attempt - Ara Damansara

At 1.45pm Ara Damansara
Call it divine intervention on the life of our students mother.

I was originally intending to drive out to Citta Mall for lunch but decided to walk behind our school, shop lot to the usual uncle mamak stall behind and ate simple.
Finished and walked back to the school along the shop lot alley and saw meters in front of me, an Indian youth/man roughly between age 24-28yrs

walking towards a lady sitting outside our school stairs on the phone, grabbed her neck/head but she Screamed immediately and I screamed at him at the same time.

He then proceeded to confront me and like a hollywood movie, unveiled his parang at me while I am now taking some hops and steps backtracking at the same time thinking of plan B plan B plan B.
Had nothing on me, my car was behind me but my keys were in my office in the school. Had no form of 'weapon' to fight back but only shouted at him "Why are you doing this" as he veiled off to his accomplice on the motorbike. I think it was WGX 706 or 762 Honda C70. Tall skinny.

If I had not happen to be there, she would have been robbed of all her belongings. God's intervention of His grace in which she gave thanks for. For me, I am tremendously ANGRY that I couldn't do anything to get even. But maybe in my unavailability of any resource to fight back, I too was spared by HIS grace.

Evil is seeking to devour both spiritually and physically. Be alert, on guard, at all times.
All is calm now, Students mother is thankful and composed.

Its a real shame that things like this is happening in our community. WE MUST DO SOMETHING. -PL
