BENTONG: Police launched a manhunt for the two men, wearing full-face helmets, who went on a rampage at a motorcycle shop in Jalan Besar, Karak on Friday slashing three people, including the owner, before escaping with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The robbers armed with parang also rode away with a brand new Yamaha 125Z motorcycle worth RM8,000 but it stalled less than 1km away due to lack of fuel.

They then abandoned the machine near the back of a shopping mall before hijacking another motorcycle belonging to a woman at knifepoint.

A passer-by who rushed over to aid the terrified woman was slashed by the robbers who then rode away with it heading towards Mempaga.

Deputy OCPD Deputy Supt Wan Azharudin Wan Ismail said the incident took place at about 3.15pm on Friday when the two robbers barged in and held up the owner and four workers.

It is learnt the workers put up a fight in which the robbers started slashing, which resulted in them being attacked by the workers with sticks.

They managed to escape with some cash belonging to a worker and from the cash register.

The owner, aged 64, was slashed on her neck when she refused to open the safe deposit box.

She suffered a 10cm long gash and was warded at the Bentong Hospital for further observation after receiving initial treatment at the Karak health clinic.

Two of her workers, aged 24 and 46, also suffered cuts on their neck and chest in the ensuing fight.

DSP Wan Azharudin urged those with information to contact the nearest police station.
