KUANTAN, Dec 28 — Four restaurant workers aged
between 16 and 20 were arrested after they allegedly tried to sell
stolen smartphones to a shop belonging to one of the victims in Cameron
Highlands.
Cameron Highlands police chief DSP Wan Mohd Zahari Wan
Busu said in the noon incident, the 28-year-old victim, who owns a
mobile phone shop in Tringkap, Cameron Highlands recognised the phones
as those stolen from his other outlet in Tanah Rata.
“The shop owner lodged a police report early this morning
after realising 20 smartphones worth RM40,000 were missing after his
shop in Tanah Rata was broken into at 3am today,” Wan Mohd Zahari told
Bernama today.
He said the victim had stalled the suspects until the police arrived and nabbed the suspects.
“The suspects, including a Form Four student from a school
in Taiping, Perak, were temporarily working at the restaurant during
school holidays and are now remanded at the Cameron Highlands Police
Station to facilitate investigations into the case,” he added. —
