Man, wanted for rapes and murders, caught after hacking policeman

The fleeing armed suspect was subsequently overpowered and caught by other personnel after a fierce struggle.

BENTONG: An armed and dangerous criminal, high on the wanted list for several murders and rape cases, was nabbed after hacking a policeman.
The fleeing armed suspect was subsequently overpowered and caught by other personnel after a fierce struggle.
The suspect also suffered injuries during the incident at about 4pm
at Taman Syahbandar Hussein near here.
The police constable - Mohd Suhaimi Razak, aged 25, was hacked with a parang while trying to apprehend him moments earlier.
He is warded at the Sultan Ahmad Shah Hospital in Temerloh together with the suspect under heavy police escort.
The drama unfolded when a police team spotted a man behaving suspiciously near a secluded spot at the housing estate.
When they approached him for questioning, the suspect took out a parang and attacked them.
He then fled while police summoned for back up and cordoned the area.
The suspect was then caught after resisting arrest and putting up a fight.
A parang and a shotgun were seized from him.
OCPD Supt Abdul Aziz Salleh confirmed the arrest of the suspect.
It is learnt the suspect, aged 42, was from Sabah.
Police are checking if the former army personnel had any previous conviction.
In May 29 this year, a man clad in army attire shot dead a senior citizen in Kampung Kemansur, Bentong during an armed robbery.
In the following month, the same suspect robbed an elderly couple in Kampung Ulu Perting, Bentong and attempted to rape his wife.
Early this month, the suspect struck again, killing a Forestry Department staff in Jalan Tras, Bentong and raped his wife.
