SS2 Break In - Repost by request

My friend's house got break in on the 08/11/12 at SS2. She is one of
the tenants there. My friend lost a back pack and a bottle of perfume,
laptop, hard disk, purse etc.They reported to the police and the police
said the thief came in from the next door neighbor
(currently empty)
and broke in from the sliding door at the living room. Before the
incident, my friend did complaint to the landlord that some of the pad
locks at the house need to be replaced due to wear and tear but the
landlord just reluctant to change, saying that the area is very safe. My
friend now is afraid to go home to sleep and is thinking of moving into
a condo.
