Attempted car theft?

Heard a noise and saw a kid run from a parked Proton Putra to another car parked alongside and sped off. Upon closer inspection it looked like the lock/keyslot in the Putra's boot had been ripped out.

The car which sped off looked like a Satria, dark gold or metallic brown, with sport rims and big exhaust. Number plate started with W.

Witnessed at park along SS4C/8.
