‘Good Samaritans’ rob couple

KUCHING: Two ‘Good Samaritans’ proved to be nothing but wolves in sheep clothing when they robbed a lottery shop owner and his wife after pretending to help the couple following a health scare.
The incident occurred around 10am on Friday when the 70-something owner and his 65-year-old wife were heading to a bank in Batu Kawah to deposit their lottery shop’s takings amounting to slightly over RM31,000.
While driving along Jalan Batu Kawa, the owner is said to have suffered a dizzy spell and immediately brought his car to a halt by the side of the road.
His wife then exited the vehicle and tried to flag down passing motorists for assistance to call for an ambulance.
Two men on a motorcycle soon stopped and approached the woman asking what the problem was before suddenly grabbing her handbag, which contained the shop’s takings, and sped off.
Later, several other motorists stopped and helped to call for an ambulance to send the owner to the hospital where he was treated before being discharged.
A police report of the theft has been lodged.
