KAMPUNG GAJAH: Two grandmothers lost cash and valuables after they fell victim to a group of conmen here on Wednesday.
In the first incident, the group had pretended to know the victim before they proceeded to rob her. In the other incident, the group had gone to the victim's house.
Perak Tengah district police chief Superintendent Muhamad Fakri Che Sulaiman said the first incident happened in Kampung Changkat Rambai at 1pm.
He said the victim, in her 50s, was approached by three individuals, who claimed they knew her.
He said the suspects chatted with the victim outside her house while two of their accomplices ransacked it.
"After they had left, she realised valuables worth RM2,600 were missing."
Fakri said the same group was also believed to have cheated an 82-year-old masseur in Kampung Matang Tok Embin here at 3.15pm.
He said two women had gone to the victim's house on the pretext of getting a massage. Two men later entered the house with the excuse of using the bathroom.
"After they had left, the victim found RM500 missing from her handbag."
