Teacher suffers losses of RM5,000 in break-in June 5, 2013, Wednesday


SARIKEI: A teacher bemoaned losses totalling about RM5,000 after his family house at Mile 1 Repok Road here was broken into last Sunday. The break-in was discovered by his mother when she returned from town around 4pm, according to the teacher surnamed Ting.

The intruders had gained entry into the house by forcing open the gate and later the front door. Car rims worth RM300, about RM300 in coins, herbal health drinks worth about RM200 and pearl necklace worth about RM1,000 were stolen.

As the gate and door were damaged, Ting estimated that it would cost RM3,000 for repair works. Meanwhile, during the Gawai holiday, two cases of motorcycle thefts were reported at the local police station.

The first case was reported by Tiong Teck Ann, 55, who claimed to have parked his motorcycle behind a cosmetic shop along Jalan Abdul Rahman here around 8.30pm last Saturday.

When he returned in half an hour’s time, his motorcycle was nowhere to be seen, claimed Tiong who lodged the report the same night. The other motorcycle was reported stolen yesterday morning.

The owner, Deborah Nala Milai, said that she had parked her white EX5 motorcycle bearing registration number QRF 2680 in front of the Sugar Bun outlet hear on Monday night. When she came for it the next morning, her motorcycle had disappeared from the parking space, she claimed.
