Gunman on motorcycle kills lorry driver

KLANG: KLANG: A 26-YEAR-OLD lorry driver died on the way to hospital after being shot by one of two men on a motorcycle outside a bank in Jalan Besar here.

S. Sambhath sustained gunshots to the cheek and chest. He was rushed to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Deputy Klang Utara police chief Superintendent Jani Ahmad said a friend of the victim said he was chatting with Sambhath and a few others friends when two men on a red Yamaha 125Z motorcycle pulled up.

“The motorcyclists were wearing black long-sleeved jackets and helmets with dark visors. The pillion rider got off the machine, pulled out a gun and fired a few shots at the group.”

The group ran helter-skelter to save themselves but Sambhath was hit from a distance of about two to three metres.

Selangor deputy Criminal Investigation Department chief Assistant Commissioner Rusdi Mohd Isa said police wereare currently checking to see if there was any closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage in the area.

S. Prabhakaran, 25, the younger brother of the victim, said Sambhath had worked hard to provide for the family with his five-year-old through his lorry rental businessservice.

“He was my only sibling andso we were very close. My parents and I were dependent on him. Now, we will have to think of a way to continue his business,” he said at the victim’s home in Taman Klang Utama.

In Kajang, a 16-year-old teenager girl was slashed to death by her uncle in a temple in Taman Sri Reko.

Yogiswari Krishnasamy had her throat slit, believed to be with a small knife, by her 59-year-old uncle, who then turned the knife on himself. The man is now in critical condition in Kajang Hospital.

The victim was washing dishes with her aunt at their house in Taman Sri Reko at 11.30am when her uncle came into the kitchen and pulled her outside the house.

She was held at knifepoint by the uncle and was dragged to a temple beside their house. At the temple, the unclehe slit Yogiswari’s throat and then went to a room there where he tried to take his own life by slitting his own throat.

Kajang police chief Assistant Commissioner Ab Rashid Ab Wahab said police were notified of the incident at 12.15pm.

“The victim died instantly after she was slashed. The man’s son ran to the temple and found his father unconscious.”
