IPOH: A 29-year-old man was shot four times in his Hyundai Atos by two assailants on a motorcycle near Taman Klebang Putra in Chemor near here late Wednesday night.
OCPD Asst Comm Sum Chang Keong said the man was driving in the car in the housing area when the assailants rode up near the vehicle and fired at least six shots at about 11.15pm.
"The man was driving with two people inside the car, believed to be his family members.
"The two are unharmed during the incident," he told journalists after attending a Hari Raya open house at the Pekan Baru police station on Thursday morning.
ACP Sum said police found six slugs on the road where the incident took place.
"The assailants wore full-face helmets and no one was able to determine who they were.
"The victim has been hospitalised after the attack with his condition stable and not critical," he said.
ACP Sum said the victim is believed to be not from Ipoh, noting that the incident was still being investigated.
"The victim is in no condition to talk and we will get some statements from him later," he said.
"We have only received one police report from a witness now," he added.
