SENTUL: A man died after chasing robbers who took his girlfriend’s handbag in Kepong early today.
In the 4.30 am incident, two parang-wielding men had attacked the couple in their car parked in front of a shophouses lot at Jalan Prima 10.
A scuffle ensued, and after one of them managed to snatch the woman’s handbag, the 51-year-old man got out of his car and went after the two robbers, returning minutes later to no avail.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Zakaria Pagan said he died after having breathing difficulties afterwards.
"His girlfriend had tried performing CPR on him, but was unsuccessful in her effort to revive him," he said, adding that the case was classified as sudden death, pending an autopsy.
