GEORGE TOWN: At least six shots were fired at a bungalow of a businessman in Pulau Tikus early Thursday, but no one was injured in the incident, police said.

OCPD Gan Kong Meng said the businessman had earlier lodged a police report claiming that he received an extortion letter together with six bullets.

Only the businessman's 29-year-old son, his wife and their maid were at home during the 1.15am incident.

ACP Gan said the couple had a shock when they discovered fragments of broken window panels and bullet marks at the house here in Jalan Utama.

"Based on the CCTV footages, the gunman fired the shots randomly outside the house.

"The owner of the house who is now abroad had lodged a report earlier when he received an extortion letter with six bullets," he said.

ACP Gan said the owner also received a text message in Chinese demanding that he deposit money into a local bank account.

"We have since frozen the telephone numbers and the bank account," he said, adding that the case is being investigated for criminal intimidation.

Fake an Accident to Rob - Federal Highway

10/8/13

shared by Tania Nicole Sammy

Mum & I were robbed today. We were exiting into Subang Jaya from Federal Highway when two Indian men in a Kancil rammed our car really really hard from behind. I stopped at the side of the road, but did not get out of the car, instead wind down the window a little and told him to drive to the nearest police station to deal with the situation. He insisted I come out of the car to view the damage that was done. He said, its just a small dent so we should not involve the police. I insisted again that we drive to the police station. He was standing a good 3 feet away from the car when with one swift move, he reached for my car keys (through the small window opening) and pulled it out of the ignition. The car automatically unlocked.

Another guy appeared and opened the front passenger door and was trying to grab my mothers handbag from her after he had successfully yanked off her gold chain. My mother angled her body in such a way that she could kick him and manage to kick his face a few times while clutching to her handbag. The other guy on my side had also yanked off my gold chain and took my handphone. We were screaming at the top of our lungs while trying to fight them off. They they ran back to their car & drove off.

Reminder to everyone, DO NOT STOP if someone hits your car. Especially if you are driving alone. Thank God that these robbers were not armed and mum & I only have minor scratches.

Nine cars broken into in Taman Dato Harun

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 9, 2013): The windows of nine cars parked in Taman Dato Harun along the New Pantai Expressway were broken and valuables in the vehicles stolen.

The incident was discovered at about 4.30am and involved, among others, two Perodua Myvi, a Proton Gen 2, a Proton Wira, a Proton Waja and a Nissan Sentra.

The owner of one the cars, Subramaniam, 33, said he was informed of the incident at about 6.30am by neighbours who had suffered the same fate.

"Usually we park the car in front of the house but since relatives were visiting our neighbours last night for Hari Raya, the parking lot was full and we parked the car at a distance from the house," he told Bernama when met at the scene of the incident.

"As a result of the incident, I have incurred a loss of about RM4,000 which includes the cost of my SmartTag (RM280), car speakers (subwoofer) and power amplifiers," he said.

Laili Azura Abdul Rahman, 37, said she only became aware of the burglary when her brother wanted to leave for Melaka at 6am and they found both their cars broken into.

Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Arjunaidi Mohamed confirmed the incident. – Bernama
